Admission / Check-in
On arrival at the medical centre, please check-in at the respective clinic or the respective ward directly, if prior arrangements have already been made with the doctor. You may select a room of your choice from Single Deluxe, Twin Deluxe or Quartet Standard Room (subject to availability at point of admission). A ward clerk or nurse will record all your details and an identification band will be fitted to your wrist to be worn throughout your stay. A deposit amount will have to be made prior to check-in (see Financial Arrangements).

Please DO NOT bring valuables, such as jewellery, or large amount of cash, as we cannot be responsible for these items.

Arrival in the Ward
Once registration is complete, the ward staff will take you through an orientation of the ward, including how to use the room amenities and emergency call button next to the bed.
A doctor will record your medical history and will conduct a physical examination. Please tell this doctor of any allergies you may have to antibiotics, other medications or foods and what medications you have been taking at home. Any medications brought with you should be handed to your nurse for storage during your stay.
Please ask your nurse if you would like a bed sign indicating special hearing or vision needs. A nurse will also visit you to take a nursing assessment.
If you wish to leave the ward at any time, please advise the nurse directly responsible for your nursing care.
Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any queries about your treatment, the hospital routine or facilities.
Pre-Operation Procedures
If you have been scheduled for a surgical procedure, please follow the instructions from your Surgeon and/or Anaesthetist and kindly check-in at least two hours prior to your scheduled procedure.
In case you have been advised to fast, please follow the instructions and take the necessary medication as directed by the doctor.
Please note the following before coming to the hospital:
- All jewellery and valuables are to be removed and kept at home before coming to
the hospital for security purposes.
- Do not wear any form of make-up.
- Remove nail varnish from fingers and toes.
- Do not wear any hair accessories or any metal objects on your body.
- Do let us know if you are using any prosthesis, i.e. false limbs, dentures etc.
- Do not wear contact lens.
- Do pack your clothes, toiletries and bring along your identification card or passport
and all current medication for check-in purposes.
Visiting Hours
To facilitate your speedy recovery, visits from family and friends are encouraged and welcomed at JPMC. However, taking into account the health status and wishes of patients, visiting is subject at all times to the discretion of the nurse caring for the patient.
We suggest that short visits are best, with only one or two visitors at a time. Children under 12 years old may visit at the nurse’s discretion, but please maintain the peace and serenity of the ward which is essential for the rest and recovery of patients.
Visitors may use the facilities at JPMC Fitness Centre or grab a bite from the Restaurant.
Discharge / Check-out
Your doctor will let you know when you are well enough to go home. When you are scheduled for discharge, please advise family or friends in advance so that transport and domestic arrangements can be made. Patients being discharged are generally expected to check-out by 2pm, so please plan your transport home to meet this requirement. Your assistance in doing so will help avoid delays for people waiting to be admitted. Any stay extension will be billed accordingly.
A follow-up appointment may be necessary at the respective clinic. If this is the case, you will be given an appointment card. If you are likely to have difficulty coming to hospital for an appointment, please explain this to your doctor when discussing your discharge arrangements. Please let the hospital know if you have to cancel an appointment for any reason.
Medications
Some patients in some special categories may require drugs and medication. Before leaving, you will be given a prescription, of which a family member or friend can assist you in picking up the medication from the Pharmacy.
Check with your doctor that there will be no conflict between the drugs you already have and those you have just been given. Staff will advise you if a further prescription is needed, but if in doubt, please consult your doctor.
Financial Arrangements
Please be advised that the settlement of any additional payments must be carried out before checking-out (see Financial Arrangements).
Personal Property
Please check your wardrobe and bathroom before you leave to ensure that you have not left any personal belongings behind.
Discharge Against Advice
With few exceptions, such as in the case of infectious diseases, patients have the right to leave the hospital when they choose. However, to leave the hospital against medical advice would be a serious step and you will be asked to sign a “Discharge Against Medical Advice” form.
